Thank for the link.

I was just digging Scarlet>Fire and Bob's dog, Otis, walks on stage during the transition jam :)

Awesome.

Saw that, and Bob was like WTF? and gets him to leave promptly. Happens at about the 1:28:30 mark on the video.

Otis is in the Heart of Gold Band, apparently.
That's an exchange with Dog I know well: " Hey Dad!, Oh, excuse me..."

Is there a link or a date of the show? I'd love to check it out. Thanks!

Near the beginning of the Ripple on Reckoning, you can hear Bob say "that's Otis" so it appears that he wandered onstage at the Warfield during that taping

Well. That IS interesting.

First, this quote:

>While "Ripple" is actually a trivial song, it gave everyone a warm fuzzy feeling

I have to say that "trivial" and "Ripple" aren't words I'd put together, but to each his own.

Then the long anecdote about remembering how he saw Otis, with vivid details about the dog yawning and how long he was on stage and the expression on Bob's face ... and then the blog writer admits his memory isn't real because Otis apparently came on stage the NEXT night, when he wasn't there!!!

Whoops.

Makes you wonder about historical memoirs. How much of what we read is real ("the general came tearing down the hill, waving his sword, and then said ...") and how much is reconstructed or completely imaginary, even unknowingly? For years I had a memory of a family trip to a historical site -- and then found out my family had never been there! I'm sure it was part of a school trip that I'd rewritten in my mind. But this guy's Otis "memory" .... he didn't rewrite who he was with or the weather; he wasn't even THERE. I wonder if he constructed it from other people's memories or just made it up completely.

Actually, he went to both nights, and just remembered Otis coming on the wrong night. As he says, "this actually happened the next night, September 26, which I also attended, and I have simply merged the two nights in my memory." A trivial error!

I also complained about him calling Ripple "trivial," but it's his blog...

Oh. Cue Emily Litella: Never mind!

(It's still a good point about memory. Just less dramatically illustrated :-) )

That's at least the second Emily Litella reference this month.

Never mind.

No no, it's been at least six weeks since my last Emily Litella reference.

I do seem to have a limited stock of relevant pop references. That is because I come from France.

Oh well. Talk amongst yourselves.

Supposedly he died just before this show, so Bob is having a really hard night:

Doesn't Otis get songwriting credit on something or other?

One thing I read is that the Dead had backstage passes made for the family dogs. Now that's cool. I guess Otis was all access.

This string reminds me of the great line from Animal House: "Otis?! He LOVES us!!!"

Gotta check out the first ever Althea! Listening now...

Nice and mellow, great AUD on this one. The whole band is on point and Jerry cranks out some very melodic and polite leads. Lyrics may be off but he gets the point across. I dig it.
